形態特徵

• Rhizome short creeping, robust, without stolon. Culms loosely tufted, 80-180 cm tall, to 8 mm thick, trigonous, smooth.
• Leaves rather many; basal or subbasal, 8-20 mm wide, scabrous; sheaths elongated.
• Inflorescence a compound panicle, partial penicles binate at middle, densely flowered. Bracts leafy, rather long; sheath 3 to 5 cm long. Spikes arising from empty 2-keeled prophyll, androgynous, oblong to lanceolate, 5-25 mm long, subdensely flowered.
• Pistillate glumes broadly elliptic to ovate, 2.5-3.5 mm long, contracted at mucronate apex, finely several-nerved, reddish brown with sanguineous flecks and green costa. Utricles longer than glume, more or less patent, ovate to narrowly so, 3.5-5 mm long, obtusely trigonous, several-nerved, hispid, green or slightly reddish at apex; beak 1.5-2 mm long, scabrous, bidentate. Achenes loosely inclosed, ovate to fusiform, trigonous, ca. 2 mm long; stigmas 3.
